Syt. B K Birla Ji, a Great Visionary, Industrialist and great Philanthropist is the motivating force behind this Institute. The Institute is established under SKCT (Shree Krishnarpana Charity Trust, Kolkata), presently chaired by Syt. B K Birla Ji.
Padma Vibhushan Late Shri G D Birla founded the trust with Dr S Radhakrishnan, Maniben Patel and other great personalities of that time. BKBIET is the technical education wing of SKCT founded to groom and develop efficient Technical Professionals. SKCT promises its success in India under the overall leadership of Syt. B K Birla Ji, backed up by Birla Industrial Group, which is one of the India’s largest industrial groups and was founded more than a century ago. Smt. Sarala Ji Birla inaugurated BKBIET formally on April 4, 2008 in the presence of Syt. BK Birla Ji and Mme Gennet Zewide, Ambassador of Ethiopia.
BKBIET is an approved institution by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and it is affiliated to Rajasthan Technical University (RTU), Kota. In the year 2007, four branches of Engineering - Electronics & Communication, Computer Science, Information Technology and Electrical have been initiated with an intake of 60 students in each, which are presently 120 students in each other than Information Technology branch. During the session 2010-11, the institute introduced MCA - a postgraduate course and Electrical & Electronics Engineering branch with an intake of 60 seats each. In addition to the approved intake, students are admitted under Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme as well as under Lateral Entry scheme. Institute has developed modern Infrastructure with all basic amenities, latest computing facilities, Internet connectivity and well-equipped laboratories. Air-conditioned and digitised Library has a rich collection of books, journals with book bank system and e-learning facilities. Institute is committed to give quality education to students. It conducts workshops, seminars, conferences and arranges invited talks to create a good academic environment in the Institute.
The institute has robust academic collaboration with 19 of the world’s leading universities (Thirteen in France, four in Thailand and one each in Switzerland & Portugal. We shall soon add more universities from Europe and the USA to this list).
Besides offering the highest quality of technical inputs, our institute has taken initiatives that enable our students to be more global in the exposure and approach. About 140 students have undergone their internships from these prominent international universities. More than 65 students from these universities have completed their internships at BKBIET under the Student Exchange Program. From previous batches, more than 30 students are pursuing their Masters at various prominent foreign universities with scholarships including world famous Eiffel and Erasmus Mundus scholarships.
The Institute has well qualified faculty along with visiting faculty from international universities. Foundation has been made more stronger by guest faculties from BITS, CEERI and other relevant industries.
We have state of the art laboratories, infrastructure and the latest in teaching practices. In-house Training initiative realized as an established Aditya Birla Training & Research Center (ABTRC) to make our students industry-ready throughout the session. We have student chapters of ACM, IEEE and IETE forums, enabling our member students updated and exposed through activities like: workshops, seminars etc.
A number of students have completed their summer Internships from ABTRC, CEERI, HAL, HCL, Essar Oil, Automic Energy Nuclear Plant, Havells, Hindalco, LASTEC, NTPC, Oil India Ltd, RBI, Suratgarh Thermal Power Station, Western Railway, Birla Museum, BSNL and many more. 93% students secured First Division, out of which 43% of the students graduated with Honors in the passed out batches. One of our students of CSE branch of Batch-2011 grabbed second rank in the university merit.
The Institute has spacious, well-furnished hostels for girls and boys with an excellent mess, night canteen and common room facilities. Infrastructure facilities, including sports, gym, cultural centre, and dispensary are established for overall development of students. Students organise various social activities like blood donation, poverty eradication, women upliftment under NSS Programme along with Annual Cultural event ‘BASANT’ and Annual Technical event ‘QUASAR’.
